If your competitive moat can be drained by a competitor who just prompts differently, you never had a moat. Thiel's core argument about secrets and monopoly is more urgent now, not less.

The bottleneck in an AI-native studio isn't compute or model quality — it's the coordination tax your humans pay every time they second-guess an agent's output or re-litigate a decision the system already made.

If your agents are doing the execution, the humans you hire are pure judgment — which means a weak hire now costs you something agents can't fix.

If your agents are doing the building, your job as technical founder just got clarified — and harder. Understanding what leverage actually means in that world starts here.

Disruption doesn't announce itself — it shows up in markets incumbents ignore, which is exactly where AI-native companies are building right now. If you're shipping agents, Christensen's playbook is the one sitting closest to your actual situation.

If you are shipping AI-native products right now, the bottleneck is not capability — it is the human willingness to follow something new into genuinely unfamiliar territory. That is a leadership problem, and Seth Godin solved it a decade before agents existed.

If your orchestration layer interrupts agents the way a calendar full of standups interrupts an engineer, you are not running an AI-native company — you are running a slow one. The design of when your agents work is inseparable from what they produce.

Noam Wasserman spent years cataloguing exactly how founders blow up their own companies before the product ever gets a chance to fail — and the patterns are grimly consistent. If you are handing agency to AI systems, those patterns get worse, not better.

If you're deploying agents to do growth work, you need the same rigor you'd apply to a production system: instrument everything, or you're just burning compute on vibes.

If you are handing consequential work to agents, you need the same operating rigor you'd demand from a human team — and Matt Mochary built exactly that rigor for founders who keep dropping the ball on process.

If your agents are shipping features users don't need, no amount of automation compounds in your favor — the underlying logic still has to be right first.

If you're making decisions about who — or what — to trust with consequential work, the research on interviews is a cold bucket of water: confidence and competence barely correlate. That applies the moment your agent roster starts expanding.
