If you're deploying agents to do growth work, you need the same rigor you'd apply to a production system: instrument everything, or you're just burning compute on vibes.

Austen Allred's guide treats user acquisition the way a good engineer treats a buggy system — you don't guess, you instrument. The core discipline is finding the single metric that actually predicts retention and revenue, then working backward through every acquisition channel to see which one moves that number cheapest. Channels have arbitrage windows; the ones nobody is bidding on yet are the ones worth exploiting hard and fast, before the market catches up and prices out the advantage.

The arbitrage logic gets sharper and stranger when agents are running your growth loops. An agent can test forty channel variations overnight that a human team would take a quarter to schedule, which means the underpriced-channel window closes faster than Allred's original framing assumed — your competitors are running the same playbook at the same speed. The real leverage shifts to instrumentation quality: agents need a clean, trusted signal to optimize against, or they'll find the metric and game it. Founders still have to define what winning actually means.
